Mortgages are long-term contracts, and sometimes that overwhelms people. Personally, I know that having a 30-year debt hanging over my head would by annoying and stressful. However, you most likely will not have to pay off the whole thing, most people move before finishing off the whole mortgage. Also, it seems like people worry that once they take out a mortgage their life is going to slow down and they are going to become the suburban family, and by the time they pay off the house they’ll have grandkids. That is a scary thought, but using a mortgage is really the only way to get into a house. So suck it up and go get a mortgage.
