It amazes me how much you can trademark. I have attended the University of Utah, and I looked at everything they have trademarked. They have just a capital “U” trademarked. I never would have that that every time I use the letter U I was infringing on someone’s copyrights. Everything can be trademarked, and if you own a company, you might as well try to trademark and copyright everything you can. There is one exception, and that is a sound. You cannot copyright or trademark a sound. That seems odd, but it is nice as well because you do not have to some how say your sound is copyrighted after it plays every time. I wonder if anyone has trademarked just a blank space. If not, I am going to just because I can.
