The CPSC announced a voluntary recall of a remote-controlled toy helicopter today because of the fire hazard the toy presents. About 30,000 toys were sold in 2007 for about $30 at sporting goods stores and children’s toy stores. The helicopter is called “Fun2Fly Microcopter” and is item number 91001. The toy’s rechargeable battery can catch fire while charging, making the helicopter burst into flames. There have been six reports of fires, with one minor injury. The helicopter was manufactured in China.
If you purchased a Fun2Fly Microcopter, you should stop using it immediately and return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. You can also contact Soft Air USA at (817) 717-4300 (call collect), or e-mail them at Bhook@softairusa.com.
