Yet another children’s product is being recalled because of lead paint. Today, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that Mission City Press will voluntarily recall “A Life of Faith Charm Bracelet Sets” due to violation of lead paint standard.

There were about 11,000 of the bracelets sold in 2006 and 2007 for about $15. The paint on the white beads of the bracelet contain excessive amounts of lead, and can cause injury to children. The bracelets were manufactured in China.

The CPSC is advising consumers to take the bracelet sets away from the children immediately (this includes the child’s bracelet as well as the accompanying doll bracelet). Mission City Press guarantees a full refund. Parents can also remove the pearl white beads from the bracelet if they don’t want to return the jewelry. The return address for Mission City Press is (and remember to include your name, mailing address, phone number, and email address):

Mission City Press
Attn: Bracelet Refund
202 Second Ave.
South, Franklin, TN 37064

Or, you can call (800) 840-2641.

Remember that elevated lead paint levels can cause behavioral problems, learning disabilities, and even death. Children are exposed to lead through chipped paint in older homes, lead dust from remodeling older homes, and toy and jewelry paint. Lead can also be found in the soil around older homes and businesses.
