We hear about crazy sports injuries in which athletes suffer horrible, life-threatening (and career-threatening) injuries all the time. However, we also hear about players who complain about injuries that they are going to receive no end of ridicule in the locker rooms for.

Take Cincinnati Reds’ centerfielder Ken Griffey Jr., for example, who pinched his testicle with his own cup.

Or what about Orioles outfielder/designated hitter Marty Cordova, who burned his face so badly while at a tanning salon that doctors told him he had to sit out a few games?

And have you heard about Bill Gramatica, who nailed a 42-yard field goal and then jumped up to celebrate, only to tear his ACL and put himself out of the rest of the season?

And no sports list is complete without at least mentioning Sammy Sosa once or twice. Sosa suffered painful back spasms after sneezing while in the Cub’s clubhouse, taking himself out of the lineup.

But that’s nothing when it comes to Giants’ slugger Kevin Mitchell, who strained his rib muscles while vomiting.

However, the ultimate winner is Kerry Wood, who fell out of his hot tub and bruised his right side.
