A large 19-story crane crashed Saturday, killing at least four people. The crane was operating at a high-rise condo building downtown as it broke into pieces, completely demolishing the townhouse below it.

Cars on the street and other nearby buildings were also crushed, and dust plumed above the scene. Firefighters and police were on scene quickly, and they began searching for others trapped in the rubble. They called in dogs and heat-sensing cameras to assist in the search.
 
The crane was attached to the half-built condo building, and it tore apart after a piece of metal used to attach it to the building sheared off.
 
Those killed in the incident were all construction workers, but authorities believe others may have been crushed as the structure fell, and they won’t know for sure until searchers finish their work and rubble and debris is carefully removed. More than 17 people were injured.
 
Nearby property owners, including John LaGreco, owner of the Fubar tavern inside the townhouse, are promising to file lawsuits.
