Bedard’s out with hip injury; Rose has a stomach-ache.

Erik Bedard, left-hander for the Seattle Mariners, couldn’t help his teammates today due to hip inflammation, and he watched their 3-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles from the sidelines. However, Derrick Rose, point guard for the Memphis Tigers, won’t let his injury sideline him. He missed media events today because of a stomach ailment, but plans to play against Kansas in tomorrow night’s national championship game.

Both atheletes’ injuries are hard to explain…Bedard claims he woke up with hip pain, and Rose’s teammates claim his stomach-ache comes from all the junk food and candy he eats during the day. Bedard threw well in the bullpen before Sunday’s game, but Felix Hernandez pitched instead.

Bedard might have another chance to face the Orioles on April 23, after they travel to Seattle for a three-game series.

Rose, a Memphis freshman, tried to show up for media sessions today, but right before whispered to coach John Calipari that his stomach was bothering him, and the coach sent him to see the trainer.
