John Smoltz was complaining about shoulder discomfort during Sunday’s game against the New York Mets, which was a 6-3 loss for the Atlanta Braves. Right-hander Smoltz allowed four runs, seven hits, and his first two home runs of the season, saying his shoulder wasn’t allowing him to throw properly.Although Smoltz and trainers aren’t saying what might be wrong with his shoulder, he did start the season with tightness in his shoulder as well, which put him on the disabled list. He has also been scratched from a start during the season.
Smoltz may return to Atlanta for some further medical testing on the shoulder, which could make it questionable as to whether he’ll start against the Reds in Saturday’s game.
