Everyone suffers from a few most embarrassing moments in their life. Of course, at the time they occur, they aren’t funny at all. But maybe, after years have passed and you have moved thousands of miles away, some of those moments turn into funny stories. Here are a few of those stories (and by the way, all names have been changed…to respect privacy, you know?). Slipping and falling is never funny, but to kids, it’s a different story. I’ll never forget when my 7th grade English teacher, Ms. Meeker, the one who was a little crazy and VERY mean, slipped and fell down a few stairs. Her dress flew up over her waist as she skidded down the stairs on her butt. She was wearing some really big, flowery granny panties, and all the kids in the surrounding area stopped to look and point. She ended up being fine…no broken bones, but she did have a very bruised pride. And of course, greeting her the very next day when she walked into the classroom was a life-sized drawing of her in her underwear on the chalkboard.
It’s those stomach groans, the ones that sound like something else, that are the worst. My friend Gloria was interviewing for a new job when she got the worst bout of stomach noises that she’d ever had. She didn’t want to just get up and leave the interview, and it had only just started so she didn’t want to excuse herself. She hoped they would just stop. But of course, during the most silent point in the interview, when the prospective boss was looking over her resume, her stomach let out a loud sigh. She tried to laugh it off and say she was hungry, but then it kept happening again and again. She thought she’d die of embarrassment. She ended up getting the job, but she says she kind of secretly wishes she hadn’t, because she thinks about that awful interview every day that she walks into the office.
When Timmy was 10, he broke his arm skateboarding. He was a pretty shy kid, and he had just moved to a new town and wanted to make friends. So he was letting some kids in his class sign his cast. One of the kids, known as the class bully (who else would the culprit be?) decided to write a swear word on Timmy’s cast. He used the darkest, thickest marker he could find, and he wrote it on the back side of the cast, so Timmy couldn’t see it unless he held his arm up in front of a mirror. That entire day, Timmy walked around with everyone giggling and pointing, until finally a teacher noticed. However, they couldn’t color over the swear word since the kid had used such a dark marker. Timmy ended up having to get a new cast…but of course that took more than a week. He got his revenge though. He drew a big smiley face on the bully’s chair with thick, red lipstick. When the kid sat down, the lipstick stained his pants with a big, lopsided smiley face that moved back and forth when he walked, and he walked around for a whole day without knowing why everyone was laughing.
