Archive for June 4th, 2008The following techniques, although under heavy debate, are still legal in the U.S., and are used on detainees, POWs, and other people the U.S. interrogates. Careful; these photos are very graphic and disturbing. John McCain endured horrific torture during his time as a POW in Vietnam. He was shot down in 1967 while on a bombing mission, and he was captured and held as a prisoner of war. Interestingly, it’s hard to pin down his position on whether the U.S. has the right to torture the people it captures. After little more than one month, there have been actual incidents of violence around the world related to the release of Grand Theft Auto IV. One man in London was stabbed by a stranger when he cut in line to buy his copy of Grand Theft Auto. Another man had his jaw broken when two teenagers mugged him and stole the copy of the game he was carrying. In 2006, a lawsuit blamed the game for three New Mexico murders committed by a 14-year-old boy. |
