Although the majority of the movie only hints at violence or is tame compared to most, there are two scenes that nearly blew me away (and made me want to swear off any movie that isn’t “G” rated for the rest of my life).

 

The scenes come near the end of the film, which is set in the 1970s during President Idi Amin’s horrific eight-year-rule of Uganda. One of Amin’s wives has cheated on him with his doctor. To punish her, Amin chops her up and rearranges her body parts for all to see. The scene is so gruesome that it will stick in my mind forever. Warning: do not watch this if you aren’t prepared to be horrified. It is completely unbelievable what people can do to each other, especially people they once loved.

 

Soon afterwards, the doctor is tortured in the most painful way imaginable. This is just as gruesome.
