Graduation Cap Injuries

The 100-year-old tradition of tossing graduation caps can be fun for some, but

dangerous for others. There are a few unlucky graduates who’s joyous day turns

into a tearful one. Just picture graduates looking up into that sea of caps with

smiles on their faces, when “whack” one of the spinning mortarboards plows one of them in the face.

Free Consultations?

Personal injury attorneys want to help victims of wrongful injuries. Most people don’t know that if they have been injured, they can get a free consultation from almost any attorney or lawyer. Therefore, you have no reason not to call an attorney.

DUI Advice

Getting a DUI in the first place is bad enough, so anything you can do to reduce your punishment is a good idea. Usually, that means hiring an experienced lawyer to fight your case.

3,000 MPH Meteorite Hits Boy

Gerrit Blank a 14-year old German boy was on his way home from school when he saw a fireball from the sky heading straight towards him. The white-hot meteorite traveling at 3,000 mph hit the boy and bounced onto the ground so hard it left a 12 inch crater in the tarmac and a three inch scar on the boy’s hand. There is only one other known case where a meteorite hit a human. The softball sized meteor crashed through the roof of an Alabama house in 1954. After going through the roof and ceiling, it bounced off the furniture and hit housewife Ann Hodges who was napping on the couch. The meteor that struck Ann left a large bruise on her hip.

Through a series of mistakes, miscommunication, and misdiagnoses, a Florida mother’s arms and legs were amputated. She sued the doctors, who blamed one another for the errors in her case. The jury ruled against Strong, but the judge overruled the jury because of the overwhelming evidence. Strong is now waiting for her second chance in court.

Neighbors heard a loud boom and instantly a child started screaming. Neighbors didn’t actually see the lightning hit the boy on the bicycle, but the bolt hit right at the time the boy was passing by.

Lightning in All its Glory

The ratio of getting struck by lightning and killed is 280,000:1. Most lightning fatalities take place outside, at recreational events like baseball games or on the golf course. If there is a lightning storm immediately seek refuge in either a building, hard topped vehicle, or if no shelter is near, crouch on the balls of your feet as low to the ground as possible in order to create the lowest profile, but dont lay flat on the ground.

Parents need to remember that even though they are in the home with their children they still need to be aware of the potential dangers to young ones. Parents should examine the home to see where hazards may be. Strangulation and suffocation hazards should be out of reach of young children. Cleaning fluids that look like punch and any other chemicals that can harm children or pets should be used carefully and kept away from inquisitive explorers, even leaving products accessible to go answer the phone quickly, etc., can be too long without supervision. Obviously swimming pools should be gated and/or covered because it only takes a few minutes without oxygen to the brain to cause permanent impairments or death.
