Everyone says that lawyers are self-absorbed, and that they only care about winning money. Don’t you think that is bad? I don’t, not at all in fact. If I am injured, I want a lawyer who cares about winning lots of money. I don’t win any money if he doesn’t, so our interests are aligned. Therefore, I don’t care how much of an unfriendly person he is, as long as my case is won and I am compensated fairly. To me, results are much more important than the process, so as long as my lawyer is being lawful, I don’t care how he goes about winning my case, just as long as he does. 04|Aug|2009 1On August 1, 2009 my son had an epileptic seizure. He seemed to be coming out of it as he normally did for about 30 minutes. He then complained of an upset stomach and vomited. Because of the possibility of a concussion we took him to Lakeside Urgent Care, a facility listed on his Macomb Care Connect program directory. Upon arrival I entered the office and asked if they had a wheelchair to bring him in with so that he could keep the container on his lap in case he vomited again. They asked me what was wrong with him and I explained the situation. They refused to allow me to bring him in to the office and instructed me to leave and go somewhere else.
No one offered to even walk out to the vehicle, 15 feet from the door to see if they could assist medically. There were three individuals behind the counter, the receptionist, the nurse she summoned and a female doctor. I did not get their names as I was far more concerned with getting care for my son. The doctor wore a Hijab, Muslim head wear for women, the nurse was a heavy set woman and the receptionist was a young woman. He does not have insurance and does not have any financial resources, this facility is one of the few places he was directed he could receive care through this program.
While I understand that they cannot handle all types of health conditions, I would have expected compassionate aid at a minimum. If a person arrived that was having chest pains and the companion asked to get a wheelchair in order to bring him in for evaluation, would they diagnose a heart attack or indigestion from the office while the patient sat in the car? Would it not be prudent and ethical to see if CPR would need to be administered on that patient? To withhold the medical knowledge contained in that office from a sick patient that needs care seems wrong to me on many, many levels.
Beyond any service they may have been able to perform in this facility there should have been available within the character of these people the ethical and moral drive to assist the sick and injured. I am sure they are all capable of checking basic vital signs to determine if an individual is in stable enough condition to be transported by family or if an ambulance would be required. I do not wish anyone else to be placed in medical danger because of the practices of this facility. Are they legally bound to at least look at him?

11|Dec|2009 2I agree- i think alot of people feel more comfortable with a driven lawyer- whether their driven by money or something else- and that as long as everything is within legal boundaries, they are often more confident that they will get justice.
Bankruptcy Attorney
02|Feb|2010 3I agree and disagree at the same time. I’ve noticed it depends upon the type of case. Our Bankruptcy clients ask about how much it will cost, while insurance bad faith clients ask about how much money we can give them.
Personal Injury Lawyer
28|Jul|2010 4Like above, I agree and disagree at the same time. Money is almost always at the forefront of the scammers mind. People who are genuinely pursuing litigation are more concerned about what it’s going to cost as opposed to what they will be getting.

08|Jun|2011 5I think people advise others to make sure they are a fit with the selected lawyer because they want you to be happy with the services you are paying for. If that means you don’t care about the moral compass (because being lawful doesn’t mean the lawyer will automatically appease to your specific morals) of that person, then that is your preference. Some people don’t feel that way and want the lawyer to represent more than their case and what I mean by that is: in some situations, people view the lawyer as representing themselves. As a result, they get personal about certain issues so for them, they need to pay attention to detail when hiring their attorney.
