The FDA approved an updated label for the birth control patch Ortho Evra on January 18, 2008. The results of a study showed that patch users were at higher risk of developing blood clots, known as venous thromboembolism, that could lead to fatal injury. The FDA announced that it is reviewing data from anemia drugs that have been linked to rapid tumor growth and shortened survival time in patients with certain types of cancer. |
