Gerrit Blank a 14-year old German boy was on his way home from school when he saw a fireball from the sky heading straight towards him. The white-hot meteorite traveling at 3,000 mph hit the boy and bounced onto the ground so hard it left a 12 inch crater in the tarmac and a three inch scar on the boy’s hand. There is only one other known case where a meteorite hit a human. The softball sized meteor crashed through the roof of an Alabama house in 1954. After going through the roof and ceiling, it bounced off the furniture and hit housewife Ann Hodges who was napping on the couch. The meteor that struck Ann left a large bruise on her hip.
