The War of the Worlds was written by H.G. Wells and adapted to be read on the radio in 1938. The story tells a tale about an alien invasion, with very little chance of escape. When the story was adapted for the radio, it was read by broadcasters as if it was a real event; listeners in New Jersey were convinced that it was happening in their state and that the world was about to end. |
